Noise and Spatial Configuration in Biskra, Algeria—A Space Syntax Approach to Understand the Built Environment for Visually Impaired People

چکیده

This contribution investigates the correlation between street noise levels and spatial configuration of network in four different types neighbourhoods Algerian city Biskra. Space syntax methods are used to analyse relationships, where accessibility, intelligibility, legibility urban spaces can be evaluated. The degree integration is as an accessibility indicator correlated with recorded level data at 154 points from selected neighbourhoods. As results show, there strong correlations sound pressures on streets roads colonial unplanned reason that these have a high connectivity global integration. There weak throughout modern planned neighbourhood, which again affects space. experiment shows space potential predict degrees orientability for people visual impairments planning.

Anti-social Behaviour and Urban Configuration Using Space Syntax to Understand Spatial Patterns of Socio-environmental Disorder

This paper explores spatial properties of urban environments in relation to the occurrence of antisocial behaviour (ASB). This is a new approach depart from previous research which considers ASB predominantly from the socio-economic perspective. ASB, in contrast to crime, is a phenomenon which lacks clear formal definition its borders to 'normal' or acceptable behaviour on the one end of the sp...
